Main modules and functionality

Patient registry

All patient data is recorded into the system at the patient’s first visit to the clinic either by manually keying in the data, or through smart-card systems.

Chronological case record

“The complete medical record” is information that is being automatically generated from different Profdoc modules and presented in chronological order.

Warning

The system provides sophisticated “warning” mechanisms so that physicians or any other medical staff – accessing the patient’s record will be warned if the patient has any known drug allergies or other vital medical data.

Contact registration

The classification of contacts is user definable, and can be (i.e.) out patient visit, phone contact, visit to maternity department or visit to medical laboratory for test results.

Diagnosis

Most contacts will include a diagnosis. The system can differ between chronic diagnosis, past chronic diagnosis and visit diagnosis. Different coding standards are implemented, such as ICD10 or ICPC.

Case note

By utilizing structured notes and pre-defined and configured templates and terminology for applicable specialty the user will reduce time consuming typing activities. This tool optimizes efficiency whether the documentation is a part of a visit to the GP office or after treatment at any health care specialty.

Digital dictation

Another tool for optimizing the work with the patient and make the documentation more efficient, is to use the feature of digital dictation.

Images

It is possible to import different images into the patient’s medical record. Examples of images can be photographs of a patient’s changes in skin conditions, wounds or x-rays.

Laboratory ordering and results

Registration of laboratory orders and test results, with graphical and text display.

Prescriptions and dispensing

A physician can issue prescriptions based on previous prescriptions or from a system-resident drug database. Automatic update of stock-level and other inventory related functions.

Vital signs

All different measurements can be stored and viewed as a part of the chronological case record, or separately in tables or graphs.

Signature

The system will present and keep track of all information in queue to be signed off on by responsible physician, whether this is the physician’s own patients or contra signing on other patients for second opinion cases.

Scheduling and time management/Waiting list

This is a sophisticated and powerful resource allocation tool with registration of appointments and structured and coded calendars, with functionality for automated appointment reminders via email, SMS, letters or fax.

Internal messaging

Messages may be sent securely between users within the same Local Area Network (LAN) or Wide Area Network (WAN) if several health care centers or clinics have access to the same server(s).

Document/forms

Module to define, complete and print correspondence (based on templates) and various insurance and government/official forms.

Financial/billing

Automated generation of bills/ claims based on system activities.

Statistics and reporting

As a part of the ever growing request for data to be evaluated on unit or regional level, we have developed a powerful report generator with virtually unlimited possibilities to extract statistics and reports from the system database.

Communication

Message-based electronic communication (interfaced with the Link service) and seamless access to the Link Information Center.

Instrument connections

This module makes it possible to hook up laboratory instruments directly to Profdoc, and to transfer electronic lab results taken at the point of care directly into the patient records.

Integration with other systems

The work in any clinic is depending on a multitude of different diagnostic equipment, from laboratory analysis units to equipment like ECG, stress test, ultrasound, spirometry, ambulatory blood pressure measurement, Holter ECG, etc. Profdoc provides standard interfaces to integrate most modern equipment available on the market today.
