Terminology index
The terminology index is the heart of Profdoc. Here, the vision of shared definitions and terminology for the whole healthcare organization is realized. In this catalogue, all nomenclature together with detailed descriptions and guidelines for contextual usage are stored.
The terminology index is shared by all of Profdoc, and when a term is defined and published in the index it is automatically available for all modules and users.
Terminology administrator
The terminology index is managed centrally by an authorized terminology administrator. This person is responsible for the content and consistency of the catalogue, including management of items no longer valid and their removal from the system. Special authorization is required to change anything in the terminology index.
Searchable terminology
Powerful features to search within the terminology index are provided. A number of search criteria make it easy to find the terms according to your needs. The search function gives clear information of whether a term is active or inactive.
Term attributes
Each defined term has a number of attributes and it is possible to describe a term in many different ways. Each term can be linked to a number of pre-defined outcome values and such outcomes are defined as any other term. For example, the term ‘ECG’ can have outcome values Normal ECG, Atrial enlargement, Ventricular hypertrophy, Myocardial infarction etc.
Clinical documentation
Each department and ward has the opportunity to create its own clinical documentation templates with searchable terms. When these templates are created, the user chooses among the terms in the terminology index and picks those which suit his or hers needs.
