Process support
The emergency department module is used to manage the flow of patients in the emergency department. In this part of the system, powerful features are available to monitor which patients are in the emergency department, where the patients are located, who is responsible and what is going to be done.
It is also easy to navigate back in time and see which patients were previously in the emergency department at any given time, and what was done. It is possible to choose the whole department or only a certain speciality.
Integration with the medial records
From the emergency department module it is easy to view all other medical records information belonging to the patient. Information registered in the emergency department module is recorded in the medical records file as a document object from the emergency department.
It is thereby possible to also review all emergency department activities for a patient though the normal medical records overview. When a patient is moved from the emergency department to a different ward, the care personnel there can review the emergency department document and see what was done during the patient’s stay.
Activity planning
The emergency department system is tightly integrated with the activity planning module in Profdoc. The activity planner controls which activities are performed and when, also for the emergency department.
Activities which are planned in the emergency department but not performed there follows the patient to the next ward. All activities are recorded in the patient’s medical records.
Billing
It is possible to complete the necessary billing information regarding a patient treatment directly in the emergency department module. Activities which generate reimbursement are stored together with other activity reports and can be used for billing purposes as needed.
Management information
Information from the emergency department module creates highly relevant information for management purposes. Information about waiting times, load, number of patients, activities done for a certain kind of patients etc. can easily be extracted.
