Scanning

The scanning module in Profdoc provides the opportunity to store paper documents in the electronic medical records. Even when most care organizations have moved to a paperless environment, there will be a need to transfer paper documents into electronic form, for example letters from patients.

For a hospital to become completely paperless, such documents can be scanned into the medical records by using the scanning module in Profdoc.

Standardized communication

Almost any standard off-the-shelf scanner on the market can be used together with Profdoc. The scanning module uses the TWAIN-standard to communicate with the different hardware platforms.

Attestation

When a document is scanned into Profdoc , the user specifies which ward and person is responsible for attestation. Scanned documents are transferred to those responsible and added to their attestation list.

The care responsible can then check out the documents directly on the screen to confirm that he or she has observed them.

Storage

The scanned documents are stored in the medical records in compressed form. The compression reduces storage space requirement and increases the speed of transfer when a document is retrieved from the central server.

Administration

The system administrator can centrally administer who gets to store scanned documents, who gets to read them, how large a file is allowed to be, and what kinds of documents can be saved.
